Good morning, happy Monday and congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning! 😊
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Provers 4:23
At the beginning of this year I made multiple commitments, but none of them has been more important or impactful than reading through the entire Bible in 2022. I am in the middle of reading the Proverbs and there is so much wisdom to glean from the words written by King Solomon roughly 3,000 years ago.
The passage above really spoke to me and the power of EVERYTHING flowing from our heart.
My business coach and I have been talking a lot about the heart-issues … why I do what I do, what motivates me, what drives me, what scares me, what angers me, what I want, on and on it goes. And it’s true … all of it stems from the heart.
Investing is an emotional matter; our hearts are involved. We cannot, and should not, try to separate our hearts from our finances. It is my hope and prayer that our investments align with how we want to live, what & who we care about the most, and what we truly want to accomplish.
I believe that when our hearts and our wallets are aligned amazing things can happen. Jesus’ says in Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” That passage is why I named my business Intentional Wealth … I seek to help my clients intentionally align their hearts with their finances.
Now, this is not at all easy. Priorities, goals, and objectives can easily be overshadowed by obligations, deadlines, and a million other external forces. If we are honest with ourselves, I think most of us would admit that our finances have not always reflected our values.
But I have great news! If you are reading this email you are still alive (I’m observant, aren’t I? 😉) and there is still time to make necessary adjustments.
A great question I came across that I would like to propose to you this morning: If you were told you only had 7 years to live, but that you would have perfect health until the day you died and unlimited resources, what would you do with your time and energy?
I first heard that question about 2 years ago and I am still pondering it myself.
The average life expectancy in the U.S. is 78.8 years (this info along with a lot of other cool charts can be found here: United States of America – Place Explorer – Data Commons). I am 42 years old, which means I am statistically past the half way point of my life expectancy. I’m refusing to have a mid-life crisis, instead I would much rather deeply reflect on what matters in life and then fully & faithfully pursue that with all of my heart.
We all only get one shot at this life, and I want to live intentionally.
My friends, life is too short to live with regrets, too fragile to take relationships for granted, too important to live without purpose. My challenge to all of us today is to live on purpose, to live intentionally!
I am exceptionally grateful to be on this journey of life with you. Please reach out if there is any way my team and I can support you.
